JACKSON — The Mississippi Public Service Commission on Friday will begin registering cellphones on the state’s No Call Registry to help cut the number of telemarketers calling.
A news release Monday says the process for registering a cellphone is the same as registering a residential landline. Visit www.psc.state.ms.us to register online or call 1-800-356-6430 and a specialist will help get the process started.
Once registered, it takes two months for your number to be officially on the list. At that time, you can call and report unsolicited calls.
The commission says it has received 74,436 complaints since the registry for landlines became law. Of those, $2.7 million in fines have been collected since October 2014 from telemarketers violating the law.
