At a meeting of the Columbus Municipal School District Board of Trustees Aug. 22, the board voted to take action on two personnel matters involving an elementary school teacher and administrator during executive session.
The board voted unanimously to accept the resignation of an elementary school teacher, according to CMSD attorney Chris Hemphill. The board also voted to withdraw discipline against an administrator. Board president Angela Verdell and board secretary Currie Fisher both voted against that action, Hemphill said.
Immediately following the meeting, Verdell declined to comment on what actions had been taken or which positions had been affected. The Dispatch sent the board a Freedom of Information request to get the information.
District leadership released no additional information on the actions by press time.
