Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in Labor Day shooting at a Texaco on Highway 45.
Kevin Hamilton, 31, of Gordo, Alabama, was arrested Tuesday and charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. His bond was set at $100,000 — $25,000 for each charge.
LCSO Capt. Ryan Rickert said Hamilton is accused in the Sept. 5 incident, from which one 34-year-old victim was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle for non life-threatening injuries. The shooting occurred at about 7 p.m.
Two other people were standing behind the victim and could have been hit, Rickert said, resulting in the additional two aggravated assault charges.
Hamilton is still in custody at Lowndes County Adult Detention Center.
He was convicted in 2008 in Oktibbeha County of cocaine possession and served five years probation, according to Oktibbeha County Circuit Court documents.
