An Alabama man is in the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center for alleged sexual battery.
On Monday, authorities in Alabama arrested Mario Bahena, 49, of Vernon, Alabama, who was accused of sexually assaulting a victim at a local motel in Columbus on Nov. 11, according to a press release from the Columbus Police Department.
Alabama authorities took Bahena into custody and later transferred him from the Lamar County Jail to Columbus after waiving extradition, the press release said.
Bahena was charged with one count of sexual battery. Municipal Court Judge Rhonda Ellis set his bond at $75,000.
