Monroe County sheriff’s deputies have found the body of a Nettleton man who had been missing for three weeks.
Sheriff Cecil Cantrell said officers found the body of Justin Humble, 27, in a lake near Little Coontail Road north of Aberdeen.
Cantrell said his department received a tip that led to finding Humble’s body Thursday. Deputies found the body at about 10 p.m.
Humble had been missing since Dec. 27. He last sent a text message to his girlfriend saying he was going to a store before he disappeared.
Humble’s body was sent to Jackson for an autopsy. Cantrell said his department will wait for results to determine what, if any, investigative steps come next.
For the moment, he said, MCSD is not looking for any suspects.
“We’ve got to have a reason to go on before we can do that,” Cantrell said. “There are a lot of people who have said a lot of stuff about this case who don’t know what they’re talking about.”
Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley, when contacted by The Dispatch refused release information on the case. The public official denied a reporter’s request for comment because of a “liberal cartoon” previously published in the paper.
“I don’t have any information for y’all,” Gurley said.
