Two women are accused in unrelated incidents of embezzling from Columbus businesses where they were once employed.
Officers with the Webster County Sheriff’s Office arrested Angela Hope Baker, 51, on a felony embezzlement warrant Tuesday, according to a press release from the Columbus Police Department. A Columbus municipal judge issued the warrant last October.
Baker allegedly embezzled funds from a local trucking company when she worked there as a bookkeeper in 2015, police said.
In the second case, a Columbus woman turned herself in on Tuesday to the Columbus Police Department for embezzlement charges.
Rachel Kiarra Williams, 26, of 634 31st Ave. N., allegedly stole money from a Columbus jewelry store where she worked as a sales manager. Store representatives contacted the CPD and issued a complaint against Williams. A warrant was issued for her arrest April 13.
Columbus police investigators declined to release further details on either case by press time, including the identities of the businesses or the amounts the suspects allegedly took.
Both have been released from Lowndes County Adult Detention Center after posting bond. Baker’s was set at $15,000 and Williams’ bond was $10,000.
