Lowndes County sheriff’s deputies are seeking suspects in a pair of Monday night store robberies.
Chief Deputy Marc Miley said the two robberies are possibly related.
The first report, of two armed men robbing the Stateline Fuel Center on Highway 182, came in at about 9 p.m. The two suspects, who were described as black males, entered the convenience store through the front door yelling, “Get on the ground,” Miley said. At least one was armed and fired two shots into the air.
The suspects asked about the safe and then, when employees could not give them the combination, took an undisclosed amount of cash from the cash register.
About 30 minutes later, deputies received another robbery call, this one at the Dollar General on Highway 69 South. Customers hid in the back room with an employee who watched on the security camera as two suspects went behind the counter and tried unsuccessfully to shoot open the cash register, Miley said. Both suspects were armed with handguns, which apparently jammed. They left the store on foot.
No injuries were reported in either robbery.
The suspects of the Dollar General store robbery were also described as black males, one of which was about six feet tall and the other slightly shorter, Miley said. Both had their faces covered.
LCSO is handling the investigation and searching for suspects. Anyone with information can contact Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 1-800-530-7151.
