Super Sonic Car Wash bought Mr. Bubbles locations in North Columbus and Starkville in 2016 which have served the Golden Triangle since 2007. Since then, plans were announced by the business to expand coverage in Columbus with an east side location coming Nov. 1.

The new location will be at 234 and 236 Alabama St. on an one-acre lot across the street from Sunflower's East Columbus location. The building itself is planned to be roughly 3,700 square feet. Super Sonic's East location will mirror the car wash, cleaning options and free vacuums offered at the other locations.

Super Sonic employs five at each location. The facility will be open 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Saturday during the winter, 7:30 a.m.-7 p.m. during the summer and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sundays year-round.

The car wash's North Columbus facility is located at 2209 Hwy. 45 N. and the Starkville facility at 813 Hwy. 12 W.

Thompson Machinery near Golden Triangle Regional Airport is expanding.

Over the last few years, Thompson has been investing in facility upgrades in Mississippi and is now implementing those same upgrades in Columbus. Thompson is launching a new Cat Rental Store at the facility at 3199 S. Frontage Road.

The Cat Rental Store will be offering heavy machinery rentals. In addition to Caterpillar, the Cat store will offer brands such as JLG, Sullair, Multiquip and Skyjack. Equipment is available for rent by the day, week or month. The rental store also offers a rent-to-own option.

"The growth of our rental operations gives us the opportunity to serve new customers with various equipment needs," said Tom Simmonds, an area sales manager with Thompson.

Thompson Machinery was founded in 1944 in Nashville, Tennessee. The company sells machinery and parts from various heavy equipment producers including Caterpillar, Challenger and Sunflower equipment. Thompson works to serve a broad range of needs for customers inclduing construction, forestry, mining, industrial and agricultural operations.

Thompson Machinery is open 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Previously, Academy Sports and Outdoors announced a new location to open in Starkville in late spring. A grand opening will be held at the store June 2-3.

To celebrate this opening day, Academy Sports will be giving away $100 gift cards to 30 youth from the Starkville Boys and Girls Clubs.
