A Lowndes County man is being charged with the sexual battery of a woman in Caledonia last week.
Deputies with Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office arrested Brian Steven Heinz, 36, of 139 Dodson Road, Friday afternoon, the day after Heinz allegedly raped a woman near Dowdle Road.
According to an arrest affidavit from Lowndes County Justice Court, Heinz and his victim were in a vehicle traveling from Malone’s Grocery when the two began to argue. Heinz told the victim to pull off in a patch of gravel off Dowdle Road. The two exited the vehicle and Heinz allegedly raped her.
The victim then tried to walk away when Heinz grabbed her and told her to drive him back to his own vehicle, according to the affidavit. The victim pulled a gun out of her purse and pointed it at Heinz, but put it away and agreed to drive him back after he told her she would go to prison for shooting him.
The Dispatch does not identify victims of sexual assault.
Heinz has been released from the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center after posting $25,000 bond.
