Dispatch reporter Alex Holloway is now covering the newspaper’s Starkville and Oktibbeha County beat.
Holloway, 26, has covered local government in Columbus and Lowndes County since joining The Dispatch staff in July 2015. His journalism career began in April 2013 as a reporter with the Starkville Daily News, where he covered education and local government.
In Starkville, Holloway will cover those areas, as well as many other facets that impact the citizens of Oktibbeha County. He also will write features and human interest pieces for the area.
“I’m excited to be back in Starkville,” Holloway said. “I enjoyed covering local government in Columbus and Lowndes County, and now I am looking forward to providing comprehensive community journalism here.”
Zack Plair, managing editor for The Dispatch, said he is confident Holloway will thrive in his new position.
“He had already built strong relationships with community members in Starkville, including city and county leaders, and he’s picked up with those where he left off,” Plair said. “I’m confident he’ll build new relationships there. Plus, he’s such a strong, detail-oriented journalist who I know will give our readers in Starkville and Oktibbeha County reporting they can depend on.”
Holloway is a 2013 graduate of Mississippi State University with a bachelor’s degree in communication.
