A 21-year-old Starkville man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly having sex with an underage teenager in Starkville High School.
Police arrested Shytraille Spruell on suspicion of statutory rape Tuesday. According to a municipal court affidavit The Dispatch received through a public records request, Spruell had sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old in a locker room at Starkville High School.
The incident occurred on Sept. 13, according to the affidavit.
Spruell was booked into the Oktibbeha County Jail and had his initial court appearance Wednesday. He is out of jail after posting $10,000 bond, according to jail personnel.
Starkville-Oktibbeha Consolidated School District administrators declined to comment and referred The Dispatch to Starkville Police Department.
“SOCSD is fully cooperating with police in their investigation,” district Public Information Officer Nicole Thomas said.
