Three people have died after a head-on collision that engulfed both cars in flames in Monroe County Tuesday evening.
The accident occurred at 8:32 p.m. on Highway 45 Alternate at the intersection of Highway 383 near the community of Prairie, according to Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley.
Gurley said the head-on collision in the southbound lane of Highway 45 caused a fire which consumed both vehicles. The identities of the victims has not been released pending forensic identification and notification of the victims’ next of kin, Gurley said.
