An 18-year-old was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle following an accidental shooting in Columbus Tuesday.
The shooting occurred at about 1:15 p.m. in a residence on Lincoln Road when a revolver fell off the top of a dresser, discharged and struck the victim, according to a Columbus Police Department press release. The victim was “grazed on the top of the head,” CPD Chief Fred Shelton said in the release.
“We believe the victim was home alone, and this appears to be an accident,” Shelton said.
At the time CPD sent the release the victim was “alert and talking to staff” at Baptist. Shelton said he was cooperating with the investigation.
