A suspected killer will face his preliminary hearing Aug. 5 in Columbus Municipal Court.
Marshall Ray Burgin, 25, was arrested in June and charged with murder for the shooting death of Quentin Spencer, 20, at the Everyday Club and Lounge. Spencer, Burgin and two others were shot April 20 at the Seventh Avenue North bar, but police have not pressed charges related to the other shootings.
Burgin has been held in the Lowndes County Detention Center since his arrest. His bond was set at $1 million, but the bond was a formality since the arrest violated his probation on earlier convictions for burglary of a dwelling and possession of a weapon by a felon.
At the Aug. 5 hearing, Burgin will likely be held over for Circuit Court.
Another alleged murderer, Ranzino Ahmad Harris, 22, is scheduled to appear in Lowndes County Circuit Court November 8.
Harris is charged with murder and aggravated assault with a weapon in the May 17 killing of Justin Murry, 21, and the shooting of Michael Brewer, 22, at a home on Schoolhouse Avenue.
His bond was initially set at $1.1 million, but later reduced to $300,000. Harris bonded out of jail July 1.
