The Monroe County Sheriff”s Office is seeking a 20-year-old man who fled the scene of a burglary Wednesday morning after he and another man were surprised by the homeowner.
The victim called deputies to his Smithville house on Dean Road at 9:24 a.m. Wednesday after he arrived home and found the men in his house, said Sheriff Andy Hood. The victim was able to provide descriptions of the men to deputies.
Lance Montrell Pack, a 27-year-old Amory resident, was found in the area and arrested shortly after the burglary.
Tavaris T. Smith ran from the house on foot and has not been located, Hood said.
Smith, whose last known address was 60018 Dean Road in Smithville, is described by the Sheriff”s Office as black, 5-foot-9, 150 pounds, with brown eyes, short black hair and of dark complexion.
He was out on bond for previous charges of grand larceny and burglary, Hood said.
Bond has not been set for Pack, who is charged with burglary of a dwelling.
All of the stolen property was recovered near the house.
