ABERDEEN — A single-engine Piper PA-28 plane has crashed on landing at the Monroe County Airport in north Mississippi.
Authorities say no fatalities were reported from the crash Friday in Aberdeen, but a passenger was taken to an area hospital. The pilot was not injured.
The plane’s occupants were not identified, although officials told the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal that the passenger is from Hamilton, Alabama.
Monroe County Emergency Management Agency Director Donna Sanderson says the crash happened in a ditch east of the runway just before 6 p.m.
Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen says the agency is investigating and the National Transportation Safety Board will determine what caused the accident.
Two years ago to the day, a pilot and passenger died after a crash near the same airport.
