ABERDEEN — A 21-year-old Aberdeen man was killed early Sunday when he was struck by a tractor trailer on Highway 8 in Monroe County.
Kennedy Lloyd Jr. was in the road, which is just east of Highway 25 North, when he was hit by the westbound Volvo at about 4 a.m., according to Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol spokesman Brian Mobley.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley.
The driver, 44-year-old Michael Neece of Albertville, Ala., was uninjured. He has not been charged with any wrongdoing.
The case is still under investigation, Mobley said.
Mobley said it is unclear why Lloyd was in the roadway, about a mile from his house.
