The final suspect in a May 2017 armed robbery at the Camelot Apartments has been sentenced after pleading guilty in Oktibbeha County Circuit Court earlier this week.
Sydney Westmoreland, 20, was indicted for two counts of armed robbery in January 2018. According to the indictment, Westmoreland threatened two people with a handgun during a May 30, 2017, robbery at the apartments on North Montgomery Street in Starkville.
Westmoreland was accused of stealing money and a handgun during the robbery.
She pleaded guilty on Monday to the lesser included charge of robbery.
Mississippi 16th Circuit Judge Lee Coleman sentenced Westmoreland to two concurrent sentences of six years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections with five suspended and one to serve in the Oktibbeha County Jail and five years of post-release supervision. Coleman also issued Westmoreland a $1,200 fine and ordered her to pay $1,024 in restitution.
Westmoreland is the fourth suspect in the case. Three other suspects -- Marvelous Houston, Rodriquez Norman and Fajion Hill -- pleaded guilty during the February term in Oktibbeha County Circuit Court. They received 15-year sentences with five years suspended and $1,200 fines.
