A man wanted for a deadly shooting at a barbershop in Indiana was arrested in Starkville on Thursday.
U.S. marshals arrested James L. Dodson, 34, on suspicion of murder at about 2 p.m. on Thursday, according to Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Jon Davis. Dodson is being held in the Oktibbeha County Jail until he can be extradited to Indiana.
According to The Journal Gazette newspaper in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the Fort Wayne Police Department issued a warrant for Dodson’s arrest on April 23. Dodson is accused of killing Michael Lovette Jr. on April 9 as he stepped out of the Legendary Barbershop on Lake Avenue in Fort Wayne.
The newspaper reported that the warrant said Dodson went into the barbershop for a haircut and got into an argument that was so intense he left before the haircut was finished. Dodson later returned and shot Lovette, according to the report.
It’s not clear to investigators why Dodson was in Starkville at the time of his arrest. Fort Wayne Police Department’s public information officer could not be reached for comment by press time Friday morning.
