A Starkville teen is in critical condition at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson after nearly drowning in an apartment complex pool Monday afternoon.
Michael Hunt, director of Oktibbeha County Emergency Medical Services, said a 17-year-old was found submerged in the swimming pool at Triangle Townhomes Apartments on Louisville Street around 4 p.m. Monday.
Hunt said the teen, who was not a resident of the apartment complex, was resuscitated at the scene by EMT personnel and taken to OCH Regional Medical Center at 4:59 p.m. by ambulance before being airlifted to UMMC.
The victim was listed in critical condition as of 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, UMMC confirmed.
The incident remains under investigation by the Starkville Police Department, according to SPD Public Information Officer Brandon Lovelady.
