Columbus police are searching for the suspect in a Sunday night shooting that sent one man to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.
Officers responded to a call about what they initially thought was fireworks near the intersection of 14th Avenue North and 23rd Street North just before 10 p.m., according to a Columbus Police Department press release. At the scene, police did not find anyone shooting fireworks, but about five minutes later, officers received a call that a man with a gunshot wound to the upper body had been taken to Baptist by private vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle told police he had picked up the victim in the 1500 block of 23rd Street North.
The victim suffered from a single gunshot wound on the upper half of his body, according to the press release. His injury was non life-threatening.
The release said the victim has not cooperated with the investigation.
