STARKVILLE — A Starkville teen is in custody for shooting an adult female twice with a .45-caliber handgun Friday morning while she slept, according to the arrest affidavit.
Cornelious Hendrix, 17, has been charged with attempted murder for the incident at the Sandhill Arms apartment complex.
Starkville police, in a press release, said investigators believe the incident was “domestic,” though authorities have not disclosed any relation the victim has to the suspect.
At 6:58 a.m. officers responded to a reported shooting at the complex at 135 Sand Road. A Pafford ambulance took the injured victim to OCH Regional Medical Center, the press release said. From there, officials confirmed to The Dispatch, she was flown to a Jackson hospital for further treatment and was in critical condition at the time.
Hendrix is in Oktibbeha County Jail. His bond is set at $250,000.
