A Lowndes County couple was getting ready to go to work this morning when they found a man sleeping in one of their spare bedrooms.
Robert Paul Cruthirds Jr. crashed his vehicle on the 2700 block of Highway 373 Thursday night and wandered into a nearby, unlocked house where he passed out, said Lowndes County Sheriff”s Chief Deputy Greg Wright.
Homeowner John Dillon, 52, said his wife found Cruthirds after their four dogs began barking at he back bedroom at about 7:15 a.m.
“She”s pretty shook up,” said Dillon, who held Cruthirds at gunpoint until Sheriff”s deputies arrived.
Cruthirds was apparently under the influence of either alcohol or drugs, Wright said.
The defendant, who could not stand on his own, did not wake up even after Dillon cocked a 12-gauge shotgun beside his head.
Cruthirds was charged with trespassing Friday, although more charges could be filed, Wright said.
