Despite predictions of severe storms and possibly tornadoes, there was little damage reported in Lowndes or Oktibbeha counties Monday night.
Lowndes County Emergency Management Agency Director Cindy Lawrence said the only damage reported in Lowndes County was flooded apartment buildings in the Holly Hills area off Highway 45 North. There have been no other reports of damage to buildings from wind or rain in the Columbus area.
In Oktibbeha County, Emergency Management Agency Director Kristen Campanella said no damage was reported to her office at all.
Area public schools dismissed students early and Mississippi State University, Mississippi University for Women and East Mississippi Community College had all closed their offices on campus by 2:30 p.m. due to the threat of severe weather. All schools are back to their normal schedules today.
