Two people were arrested Wednesday after a chase with members of the Lowndes County and Columbus joint narcotics task force.
The chase occurred at about 4 p.m. when deputies attempted to stop a 2006 Chevrolet Impala at the intersection of Fifth Street and 11th Avenue South. Rather than stop, the driver led deputies to Ninth Street North and Third Avenue North, where he and another suspect abandoned the vehicle and tried to escape on foot. Deputies arrested them there.
The driver, Tiquan Deandre Davis, 34, of Third Avenue North, has been charged with felony fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer. The passenger, Braylin Christopher Edinburg, 19, of Tabernacle Road, was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.
Both Davis and Edinburg are in Lowndes County Adult Detention Center. Their bonds have not been set.
