Possum Town Hangout, 1469 Hwy. 69, is slated to open July 1, pending inspection.
The new business on Highway 69, just past the Sprint Mart by Yorkville Road, will be a new space and hangout in the coming weeks.
Owners Tiffany Jordan and Penny Butler will serve customers barbecue, nachos, burgers, pizzas and a slew of specials throughout the week. The restaurant/hang out will also feature foosball, arcade games, pool tables and more in an attempt to attract area youth for some good old-fashioned fun.
Possum Town Hangout will be a smoke-free and alcohol free zone that can be a family atmosphere for everyone.
Keep up with Possum Town Hangout on Facebook for the latest updates. Once open, hours will be noon to 11 p.m., but those hours are subject to change once school is back in session.
Over in Starkville we’ve got a new wellness center open.
The Well Frequency held its grand opening June 19 at 6056 Hwy. 182 W., near Horsefeathers Antique Mall.
Owners Diane and Robert Buckner first witnessed frequency technology while visiting Wales last year. After experiencing the energy benefits themselves, the Buckners wanted to bring the Natural Energy Optimization (NEO) technology to Starkville.
The wellness center offers clients NEO sessions for maximum relaxation for 52 minutes. It offers a relaxing room with recliners for those to meditate, relax, read and even socialize while the NEO machine uses advanced frequency technology to utilize the water’s natural ability for healing mind, body and soul.
During its soft opening, Diane Buckner said clients continually raved how the treatments helped their stress, sleep and sometimes even physical pain.
“We knew this was incredible but we’ve been pleasantly surprised,” Buckner said. “We have just been in tears. It was phenomenal. People call us and are telling us just how it’s affected them.”
Each session is $70, but The Well Frequency is offering an introductory special for 15 percent off — just use INTRO15OFF when booking an appointment.
Keep up to date for additional information, research and videos that detail the benefits of water-frequency technology with The Well Frequency Facebook page.
Also, there’s a new liquor store in Starkville — well a new name and owner at least.
Ruby Liquor opened near the end of May on Highway 12, replacing Corky’s. Anuj Shahi purchased Corky’s liquor store and said he’s been making renovations and aims to increase the store’s selection.
Check out the new owners at Ruby’s at 630 Hwy. 12 Monday through Saturday 10 a.m.-10 p.m.
In other news, Starkville’s movie theatre has postponed its opening. Seth Parsley, UEC Starkville manager, posted an update for all movie-goers on Starkville Strong’s Facebook page.
According to his post, UEC plans to open July 10 featuring older movies such as: Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Goonies, The Conjuring and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Those movies will be $5 per ticket all day, every day.
Ticket prices will return to normal with the release of new movies. The first movie expected to release is Disney’s Mulan on July 24.
“All of this is subject to change,” Parsley’s post read. “If movie studios keep pushing their movie releases further away, we may have to follow suit.”
