Two Starkville teenagers were charged with attempted murder Tuesday after “a large verbal and physical disturbance” turned into a shooting at Brookville Garden Apartments, according to a Starkville Police Department press release.
Officers responded at 8:28 p.m. to the shooting. The victim had already been sent to OCH Regional Medical Center before they arrived, the release states.
In addition to attempted murder, Omarion Gandy, 16, and Tyquerius Doss, 17, face charges of shooting into a dwelling and two counts each of attempted aggravated assault. Gandy was also charged with possession of a stolen firearm, and his mother, Shanqunni Smith, 42, was charged with two counts of accessory to aggravated assault “for events leading up to the shooting incident,” according to the press release.
Gandy and Doss’ bond is $350,000 each, but Gandy’s bond has been revoked due to a previous charge of possession of a stolen firearm, SPD public information officer Brandon Lovelady said.
Both are still in custody at Oktibbeha County Jail, but SPD will monitor them electronically if they bond out of jail. Smith was released from custody Thursday on $30,000 bond.
