Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle Performance Improvement Coordinator Jackie Norris, RN, second from right, recently presented candy baskets and a AHA certificate to the Emergency Room staff in appreciation for their efforts in meeting specific quality measures to achieve the American Heart Association 2020 Stroke Bronze Award. Shown accepting for both the day and night shifts are from left, Head Nurse Jessica Weseli, Jordan Sudduth, RN, Brandi Durham, RN, Norris and Megan Helms, RN. The ER staff had to administer tissue plasminogen activator, or tPA to qualifying stroke patients within 60 minutes of admission over three consecutive months. Other stroke quality measures involving the transfer of stroke patients and the treatment of stroke patients admitted as inpatients also had to be met to qualify for the award. All data was for 2019, according to Norris. Photo by: Courtesy photo
