THINGS TO DO IN THE GOLDEN TRIANGLE
On Thursday, Mississippi State head football coach Mike Leach will participate in an hour-long interview with host Neil Price from 7-8 p.m. at the Greater Starkville Development Partnership office on Main Street in Starkville. Because of safety protocols due to the pandemic, fans cannot attend in person, but the interview will be broadcast through the downtown speaker system, meaning spectators can listen while outside or while eating outdoors at downtown dining options.
On Friday in Columbus, America’s CAR-MART Inc. at 2325 Hwy 45 N. will hold a trunk-or-treat from 2:30-6 p.m. There will be designated areas for children to walk and receive pre-packaged candy from car trunks.
In Starkville, Dunkington Art & Jewelry will host a Glow Crazy Paint Party from 6-8 p.m.
On Saturday, the opportunity to shop at local produce and cottage food vendors will be available at the Starkville Community Market with social distancing guidelines enforced at Fire Station Park from 8-11 a.m. It will include special Halloween activities, including a costume contest for children 10 and younger at 10 a.m. and a pet costume parade at 10:30.
Masks are required. If a customer does not own a face covering, one will be provided. No customer is allowed to touch produce and place it back on a vendor’s table for any reason. The market will only be allowed to accommodate 20 customers at a time and lines will be socially distanced.
Boo at the Zoo will make its way to Pheba’s Heaven’s Jubilee Farm Petting Zoo from 1-3 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $5, except for children 3 and under ($3). Access to the petting zoo, face painting, hay rides and games are included. Pony rides are an additional $5, while matted photos with an animal of your choice cost $10.
Twigs Nursery and Landscaping in Starkville will offer a drive-through trick-or-treating event from 4-6 p.m. Saturday.
Several organizations in Columbus will host drive-through trick-or-treating events, including Wesley United Methodist Church at 511 Airline Road from 5-7 p.m., and the city of Columbus at Propst Park from 6-8 p.m., according to Mayor Robert Smith’s official Facebook page. Participants will remain in their cars and sponsors will give out candy and goodies to children.
Lion Hills Center and Golf Club in Columbus will be hosting a hang-out on the patio every Saturday during football season from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Call 662-329-6747 to reserve a tee time.
