Columbus police have arrested two people in connection with a hit-and-run early New Year’s Day.
Jacqueline Noel McAlexander, of Columbus, and Zachary Charles Palmer, of Caledonia, both 26, have been charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, according to Lowndes County Adult Detention Center records.
Columbus Police Chief Fred Shelton said McAlexander and Palmer were in a vehicle that struck a male pedestrian on Main Street in front of the police station at about 5 a.m. Friday. The victim was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle with non life-threatening injuries.
Palmer was arrested later that day, and McAlexander was arrested Sunday.
McAlexander is still in custody at Lowndes County Adult Detention Center on $7,500 bond. Palmer has been released on $12,500 bond.
