A Mississippi State University student has been arrested for multiple counts of armed robbery following an incident on campus Monday.
University officials did not release the student’s name by press time, but Oktibbeha County Jail records identify the suspect as John Brewer, 21.
According to an MSU press release, Brewer allegedly robbed multiple people in the parking lot of Deavenport Hall just before 10:15 p.m. Monday. MSU Police Department officers arrived at the parking lot and had Brewer in custody within minutes.
No one was injured during the incident, the press release said.
In addition to MSUPD, the Division of Student Affairs and the university’s crisis action team are investigating the incident, the release said.
The press release did not go into further detail about the robbery, including the type of weapon Brewer allegedly used. University Chief Communications Officer Sid Salter said this morning he could not release further information by press time.
Brewer is still in custody.
