WEST POINT — The Clay County Board of Supervisors held its annual reorganizational meeting Monday morning and elected a new president and vice president for the coming year.
District 3 Supervisor R.B. Davis was elected president, while District 1 Supervisor Lynn “Don” Horton was elected vice president.
Supervisors also rehired all county employees. Clay County employees work on an “at-will” basis, so the county”s road crew, sanitation department and others are rehired at the start of each year, Chancery Clerk Harmon “Robbie” Robinson said.
The board also took under advisement bids from several local banks that submitted offers to serve as the county”s depository. Additionally, supervisors accepted bids to purchase clay gravel this year at $3 per yard and wash gravel at $8 per yard.
The board meets again Thursday at 9 a.m. in the Clay County Courthouse.
