MACON — Lula Smith, 82, died May 30, 2014, at Noxubee General Hospital in Macon. Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Hopewell Baptist Church in Brooksville with George Cain officiating. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery. Visitation is today from 1-5 p.m. at Lee-Sykes Funeral Home and again one hour prior to service time at the church. Mrs. Smith was born in Noxubee County on March 12, 1932, to the late James and Ida Elizabeth Chesterfield White. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. She was formerly employed employed as a culinary specialist. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Smith Sr.; two brothers, Steve White and Samuel White; and two sisters, Grace White and Ida Mae Hall. She is survived by five daughters, Mildred Herman of West Point, Brenda McCoy of Atlanta, Earnestine Shamily, Queen Macon and Deloria Stewart, all of Macon; two sons, Lloyd Smith and Eugene Smith Jr.; one sister, Queen Ester Washington of Greenville; two brothers, James White Jr. and Johnny Joseph White, both of Long Island, New York, and Henry Lee Stewart of Prairie Point; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Kendrick Herman, Joshua Herman, Orzie Matron McCoy, Earnest Deon Shamily, Antwoine Pierre Tate and Kent Reshard Macon.
