Walter Poe

SHUQUALAK — Walter Poe, 79, died July 12, 2018, at the University Medical Center in Jackson. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Calvary M.B. Church with the Rev. Ronald Murray officiating. Burial will follow at Old Shiloh M.B. Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from nooon-6 p.m. Friday at Carter’s Funeral Services of Macon. Carter’s Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Poe was born march 2, 1939, in Noxubee County, to the late Phil Poe and Mary Poe. He was formerly employed with Martin Logging Company. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Jimmy, Aaron, Mildred and Allen Poe. He is survived by his wife, Rosie Poe; children, Brenda Bryant, Angela Poe, Earnest Poe, Shawn Poe, Rodney Poe, Monica Poe and Quentis Poe, all of Shuqualak, Walter Poe, Jr. of Huntsville, Alabama and Yvonne Hickman of Columbus; siblings, Fannie Mosley, Gladys Jenkins, both of Shuqualak, Elizabeth Washington of Detroit, Michigan, Phil Poe, Jr. of Iowa, Andrew Poe, David Poe and Lillian Reeves, all of Cleveland, Ohio and Mary Frances Thompkins of Macon; 23 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be David Langford, Carlos Langford, Raheem Scott, Shawn Thompkins, Derrick and Merrick Thompkins.
