STARKVILLE — Agnes Winstead Griffith, 95, died on April 26, 2019. Services are 10 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Starkville with the Rev. Jim Genesse officiating. Graveside services are 4 p.m. at Prentiss Cemetery in Prentiss. Visitation is today from 5-7 p.m. and Monday one our prior to service at the church. Welch Funeral Home in Starkville is entrusted with arrangements. Mrs. Griffith was born 1925 in Prentiss to the late Howard and Louvie Caughman Winstead. Her career as an educator spanned five decades in the Carson, Long Beach, Carriere, and Picayune schools and at Co-Lin Community College. She volunteered at Crosby Memorial Hospital, delivered Meals on Wheels and joined Pearl River County Retired Teachers. Agnes was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Picayune and later in life at First United Methodist Church, Starkville In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H. M. Griffith Sr.; brother, Harold Winstead; and sister, Helen Parish. She is survived by her daughters, Jane Windham of Starkville and Gail Griffith of Columbus; son, Hugh Griffith of Starkville; brother, Allen Winstead of Lucedale; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two additional great-grandchildren expected this summer. Pallbearers are John Windham, Jay Windham, Hugh Windham, Ben Griffith, Guy Wimberly, Howard Parish, Davis Winstead, Wayne Owen and Billy Walley.
