Hypocrisy and human nature
I find it interesting that many condemn the teacher for a student’s presentation that violated state and district guidelines on sex education, but group prayer can violate federal and state guidelines on separation of church and state as long as it is “student led.” I guess hypocrisy has been part of human nature at least as far back as Jesus confronting the Pharisees.
In “The African Queen,” there is a great line as Rosie replies to Charlie’s use of human nature as an excuse. “Nature, Mr. Allnut, is what we are put in this world to rise above.”
