Mr. Gross states that President Obama has frozen the cola increases for Social Security recipients for 2010 and 2011 (Voice of the people, Jan. 29 The worst one-termers). He did not. These increases are based on inflation. For 2010 the inflation was nil.
The following is an excerpt taken from the budget proposed by President Obama being presented to the Congress for their approval on 2//1/10.
The budget will also propose $250 payments to Social Security recipients to bolster their finances in a year when they are not receiving the normal cost-of-living boost to their benefit checks because of low inflation.
Instead of the double whammy being on the backs of the elderly and disabled, it”s on the back of Raymond Gross.
