Thankful for community support
We are writing to send an enormous shout out to our local community for the efficient and charitable response offered to the Starkville High School Drama Department. In just over 3 weeks, you supported our children with $16,000 to finance their trip to the highest contest stage for which they are eligible to compete. In response our troupe returned with big big wins!
Starkvile High School Thespians received nods and recruiters’ attention from the likes of London Academy of Dramatic Arts, American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Louisiana State University, Belmont University, Clemson University, Harvard University, Catawba University, Young Harris University, University of Southern Mississippi, University of Mississippi, Mississippi University for Women and Mississippi State University at the recent South Eastern Theater Conference. As parents of this uniquely talented group of young people, we are so grateful for the opportunity they have been given through the Starkville High School theater program. Our high school thespians have demonstrated technical expertise in sound, lighting, make-up; All-Star acting and directing; best over all productions; and more individual honors than can be named. At the conferences this season they were exposed to professional thespians from all over the country in all facets of the dramatic arts.
After a series of several theater teachers in recent years, we are delighted to have a comfortable level of stability to build upon. This season our program was honored in 15 categories.
With the 2015-2016 season, our Starkville High School Theater Department rose again to excellence. Other leaders in the field recognized our program value and nominated our Starkville High School theater director to become the Vice Chair of Mississippi Theater Association, Secondary Division.
Thanks for your generous investment in our children and their diverse talents.
Sincerely,
Parents of SHS Theater Kids
