Concerned about absentee ballots
“A day at the polls reveals questionable practices” — which means definite bad habits, over and over, and The Dispatch article about the absentee ballots identifies a serious issue that impacts on all our votes and the outcome of future elections. Bob Raymond’s detailed letter to The Dispatch was crystal clear and “right on” — that Columbus has major concerns with the absentee ballots process. This should be corrected immediately! I do not know the procedure for obtaining an absentee ballot or how to get it to the ballot box on election day.
1. Where does one obtain an absentee ballot?
2. What do you have to do to verify, (or not) that you have a reason to get an absentee ballot?
3. What or who verifies your absentee ballot and decide if it is legal?
The writer of the article about this actual occurrence was excellent in his telling of this because he experienced it — it was not second hand information, but something that happened to him.
How about this? Stop the use of absentee ballots until we have figured out how to make them work correctly and because of the potential for misuse, and make a supreme effort in Columbus on election day to be there to vote yourself — in person. If you can’t — no matter what, then skip one and vote the next time — until it is corrected.
