New Hope athletes deserve roses
Obviously The Dispatch ran out of roses Sunday since the New Hope baseball team and New Hope golfer Jake Crosson didn’t receive one despite the baseball team playing for a state championship and Jake winning back-to-back state titles. Our baseball team was North State Champions, finished their season 29-7, scored 327 runs and hit 27 home runs with 7 grand slams; and Jake was medalist in 8 of 12 events. These kids and their coaches worked their tails off to represent their school, their community and their teams with pride! Shame on The Dispatch for slighting their hard work and accomplishments. Give yourself a thorn.

Peter Imes replies: Thank you for bringing this oversight to our attention. Congratulations to the New Hope baseball team and golfer Jake Crosson for their accomplishments. Crosson, one of the best golfers in the state, has signed with Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. New Hope’s baseball team was formidable again this year. As senior center fielder Xavier Harrison said in a previous Dispatch story, “Being a part of the tradition at New Hope is special to me and to the other seniors. We played for one of the best programs in the state.”
