Holding elected officials accountable
Sen. Roger Wicker, Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith, and Rep. Kelly all voted to prolong the 35-day partial government shutdown until Trump gave them permission to reopen it. It was only then that they voted to reopen the government without funding for a wall.
Who do they represent? Are they standing up for Mississippians who were furloughed, or had to work without pay for more than a month or those who depend on government assistance to buy food? No! They were standing with their Dear Leader.
Let’s hold our representatives accountable to us, not an empty promise.
