The Greatest Generation

Tuesday, November 12 at the monthly meeting of the Lowndes County Republican's Women's meeting, I was a guest. The special guest and speakers were two veterans from the Greatest Generation.

Mr. Brad Freeman and Mr. Ed Humphries spoke on some of their experiences during World War Two.

They spoke with passion and a reflection of their experiences that showed the patriotism that they had for this country then and now. If you enjoy the freedoms of living in America, thank a veteran. With less than 0.5 percent serving in the military today, it is very important that we support those brave men and women that put their lives on the line for us day in and day out. I would like to think that the biggest percent of today's young people are patriotic, but we have a small group of young people that are the "Snow Flake" generation, that when they hear something that upsets them, they have to go to their safe place or safe room so their little feelings can be soothed. Some parents missed their calling as parents. Life is tough, get over it. Things don't always go your way, that's called life. I just heard on the news that there were "Therapy Dogs" available for some of the Democrats at the impeachment hearing today. Life is having a tough drill instructor yelling in your face, making you go far beyond anything you knew you could. After hearing these two American heroes speak, it gave me a greater appreciation for their unselfish sacrifice. I can say that none in the room that heard these men went to their safe room or safe space. By the way there was several young folks at the meeting. I, for one, was in awe of their stories and left feeling so proud of our military and give thanks for sacrifices of those that have gone ahead of me. I am one proud American.
