William Brasher has filed a lawsuit against Brent Vowell for hitting him with a cowbell after a ballgame won by State, which both men attended. According to the paper the men were arguing before the assault. Too many people want to use smart-aleck retorts and then when retorts are returned, usually on a “one-up-man-ship” scale, somebody gets their feelings hurt and resorts to violence. I”m not defending either one of these people, but if you”re going to call the tune sooner or later you”ve got to pay the piper. Arguing over somebody else”s sports skills is stupid, plain and simple, and if you tend to run off at the mouth too often you lead with your chin.
Mr. Brasher is also suing the SEC, the Commissioner, and God knows who else, maybe even God Himself. After all, God allowed it to happen, didn”t He? Sooner or later everyone of us has to “man up” and be responsible for our own actions and suffer the consequences for them. I hope all the facts regarding this incident come out in court. It is deplorable that two supposedly grown men can”t disagree over a ball game without fighting. If you lose the argument, shut up and go on. If you resort to fisticuffs you might lose that battle as well. Come on guys, it was just a game.
