For a third consecutive year, the ladies of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. (Phi Lambda Zeta chapter) have been helping families in the Golden Triangle area beat the heat by collecting fans and funds to distribute to families in need through their Beat the Heat Fan Drive. Fans are being donated to senior residents on a fixed income or families with disabled members.
The drive meets a critical basic need: Relief from life-threatening heat for those who do not have or cannot afford a fan or air conditioning. If interested in helping, donations may be sent to Phi Lambda Zeta Chapter, P.O. Box 53, West Point, MS 39773.
“We will distribute whatever fans or dollars are received as soon as they are received. The need is that great, because during this time of the year people are just trying to stay cool” says Tabitha Coleman, chairperson of the fan drive.
If you or someone you know needs a fan, contact Tabitha Coleman at 662-242-0096 to arrange for a pick-up. The fan drive will continue through the end of August.
