Mississippi State University Associate Professor of English Michael Kardos will be the featured guest today for “Mississippi Arts Hour” on Mississippi Public Broadcasting radio. The show is broadcaast on MPB’s statewide radio network on Sundays from 5-6 p.m. and can be heard at WMAB (89.9 FM).
Kardos, who also is in his 11th year as co-director of MSU’s creative writing program, currently is promoting his latest mystery novel “Bluff.” In addition to talking about the genesis of the book, Kardos will share insight from his experience as a former magician on the New Jersey shore. He also will discuss his mentorship of young writers at MSU.
Kardos is the Pushcart Prize-winning author of “The Three-Day Affair,” an Esquire Best Book of 2012, as well as the novel “Before He Finds Her.” His story collection “One Last Good Time” is a winner of the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters Award for fiction.
“Mississippi Arts Hour” is the Mississippi Arts Commission’s weekly arts interview program, focusing on in-depth discussions with creative Mississippians. Past episodes of the show are available online at mpbonline.org.
Recent guests on the program from Starkville include photographers Dominic Lippillo and Marita Gootee, as well as musician Robert Damm. Lippillo and Gootee both teach in the MSU Department of Art’s photography emphasis area, with Gootee as its longtime coordinator. Damm is a professor in MSU’s Department of Music.
