A general update of happenings at Mississippi University for Women, including the latest in athletics, will be the highlight of the upcoming Town & Tower Club meeting scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 23 in Fant Memorial Library.
Nora Miller, The W’s acting president, and Jason M. Trufant, director of athletics, will provide university updates.
Miller, who began serving as acting president in July, has more than 15 years of experience at The W and has been an integral part of its leadership team. Before being named acting president, she was senior vice president for administration and chief financial officer.
A member of The W’s Long Blue Line, Miller holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She earned a master of business administration from Mississippi State University in 1998 and is a certified public accountant. She has served on The W staff since 2001.
Trufant, who has more than 15 years of experience in athletics and higher education, has built The W’s athletics program from the ground up. As the 2018-19 season approaches, six more sports offerings have been added to the roster, including men’s cross country, men’s golf, men’s and women’s tennis and men’s and women’s basketball. Trufant joined The W in 2016.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University at Albany, State University of New York and a master’s in human performance from Frostburg State University.
