STARKVILLE -- A Mississippi State baseball player has been arrested for a domestic violence charge, according to the Oktibbeha County Jail arrest log published online.

Starkville police took Luke Hancock into custody Sunday, the log said. He has since been released on bond.

Law enforcement officials have commented with additional details on the incident. MSU released the following statement Monday afternoon: "We are aware of the incident involving Luke Hancock. He is suspended indefinitely as we continue to gather more information."

Hancock, a catcher from Houston, enrolled in classes and joined the team this fall. The team is in the midst of fall practice.
