The deadline to turn in submissions for the 2011 Cotton District Arts Festival Poster Competition is fast approaching. Artists of all ages are invited to submit their original work no later than July 23, to be considered as the face of the 2011 festival.
The Starkville Area Arts Council is looking for a new poster design to represent the elements of the 2011 Cotton District Arts Festival. The best and brightest of the area”s artists are encouraged to apply.
The winner will have their artwork displayed in all marketing materials for the festival and receive a $250 dollar prize donated by Matt and Lady Cox.
All submissions should be based on the artists” interpretation of the festival. Some of the elements to consider in the design are the fun family atmosphere of the event, the events the festival hosts each year, and the types of arts represented.
The 2011 Cotton District Arts Festival will be held on April 23 in Starkville”s Historic Cotton District. The festival is a celebration of five areas of the arts: literary, theatre, dance, music and artists. Additionally, the festival is also home to the Taste of Starkville, a food competition with local food vendors, plus a wide variety of live music on multiple stages.
Do not miss the chance to be the face of the festival. For a complete list of contest guidelines, as well as an official entry form, visit the SAAC office located at Suite 18, 101 S. Lafayette St., in Starkville, or download the application at www.starkvillearts.org. For answers to additional questions, contact the SAAC at 662-324-3080.
