A hydroplaned vehicle on Highway 82 West caused an 11-vehicle pileup this morning, according to Columbus police.
Authorities responded to the accident scene near the Military Road exit just after 6:30 a.m. The scene was cleared less than two hours later.
One individual involved was taken from the scene to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, but authorities said his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
Joe Dillon, city public information officer, said eight of the vehicles involved collided with another vehicle following the hydroplane, while three others ran off the road trying to avoid collisions of their own. A tractor-trailer was among the vehicles involved in the pileup, he said.
