Idea for Elks Lodge
I think Nancy Carpenter had a great idea of turning the old Elks building into a museum. Now that the building is for sale I think it would be the perfect time for the city to purchase it. It has plenty of rooms for multi-use. One room could house the memorabilia from Hunt High, one could be used for a museum of Columbus’ general history, and so on.
I know that John Fields has a tremendous collection of Columbus items that could be wonderfully displayed in the upstairs ballroom.
There would even be room for the old Hardy carriage that President Taft rode in when he visited Columbus!
